A classic French brioche featuring a rich, buttery dough and a delicate crumb. This traditional bread is ideal for breakfast, brunch, or as a delightful accompaniment to any meal. Ready in under 3 hours with a melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Ingredients
Directions
Combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing until just combined.
Knead the dough for 10-15 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Gradually add the softened butter, one cube at a time, incorporating each cube fully before adding the next. Continue kneading until the dough is smooth and very stretchy.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1.5-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Gently deflate the dough and shape it into a loaf or individual rolls.
Place the shaped dough in a greased loaf pan or on a baking sheet. Cover and let rise again for 30-45 minutes.
Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Brush the top of the brioche with an egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp milk).
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Let cool on a wire rack before serving.
